Why might coffee taste better at a cafe than at home?

Even if you use prepackaged coffee beans sold by your favorite store, the minerals content and the alkalinity of water can affect the flavor of these beans. The mineral content of water can neutralize coffee's acidity, while the pH of water can affect the taste of your coffee.

  1. Use filtered water to brew your coffee.

  2. Magnesium and calcium are important minerals for brewing coffee.

  3. Avoid water softeners. Bottled water may not be the best idea either.
