In a separate saucepan, combine milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, and a touch of chilli powder or cayenne pepper to spice up the drink. Heat up the mixture over medium heat, whisk it until the ingredients are mixed well and the milk is hot. Next, pour the spiced milk into a mug and add the brewed espresso. 1 shot of espresso
1 cup of milk (regular, almond, or oat milk)
2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
A pinch of nutmeg
A pinch of chili powder or cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Whipped cream (optional)
Cinnamon or cocoa powder for garnish
Brew a shot of espresso or make a strong cup of coffee.
In a small saucepan, combine the milk, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and chili powder or cayenne pepper.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, and whisk it constantly, until it reaches your desired temperature. Be careful not to let it boil.
Once the spiced milk is hot and mixed well, remove it from the heat.
Pour the espresso or coffee into a mug.
Pour the spiced milk over the espresso or coffee slowly, and stir it gently to combine.
If desired, top the spiced Mexican mocha with some whipped cream.
Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa powder on top.
