Does Coffee Dehydrate You?
Moderate coffee does not usually dry out the body. The fluid in the drink helps offset any small water loss from caffeine. Regular drinkers also build tolerance, which weakens the diuretic effect over time.
Studies that compare water and coffee show similar hydration when intake is moderate. Only very high caffeine intake may cause mild signs such as headache, tiredness, or a dry mouth. In normal daily use, the drink can add to hydration rather than drain it. Even so, it should not replace water. The best approach is balance: enjoy coffee and keep drinking water through the day.
